On June 6, 2025, Loretta Nash — a 911 dispatcher for the Twinsburg Police Department in Twinsburg, Ohio — was charged with telecommunications harassment, a first-degree misdemeanor, and a fourth-degree misdemeanor count of prohibited conduct filed in Stow Municipal Court, after she used a departmental outbound phone line to place a premeditated mocking call to a local resident. Nash told the woman she had won a prize in a contest, then recited that the resident had called police 183 times since 2010 and that officers had conducted 954 traffic details and 1,804 traffic stops on her street before declaring her the winner of a so-called booby prize and calling her the dumbest person to repeatedly contact the department. A recording of the call — captured in full on the police department's own equipment — was obtained by the FOX 8 I-Team after the victim filed a complaint with Twinsburg city hall. Nash pleaded not guilty in July 2025 before changing her plea to guilty on the harassment count on November 7, 2025; the prohibited-conduct count was merged and dismissed. Stow Municipal Judge Lisa Coates sentenced her to a $150 fine and a no-contact order. Nash no longer works for the department. The victim, who spoke publicly to local media, said the call dropped her to her knees before she understood there was no real emergency.
