On September 18, 2026, at approximately 4:59 p.m., a trooper patrolling Interstate 57 clocked a brown pickup truck traveling 90 MPH in a posted 75-MPH zone. According to the report, the driver, later identified as Malachi Beason, continued traveling around 88 MPH before abruptly exiting the interstate. Beason reportedly failed to stop at a stop sign, made multiple turns, and eventually reentered the interstate. The trooper attempted to stop Beason, but after briefly pulling onto the shoulder, Beason allegedly spun the tires and took off again. The pursuit continued northbound on I-57 before the trooper conducted a Tactical Vehicle Intervention (TVI). The pickup rotated before coming to a stop on the shoulder, and Beason was taken into custody without further incident. Beason is facing charges including driving on a suspended license, no liability insurance, speeding, fleeing by vehicle or conveyance, failure to register a vehicle, failure to obey a stop sign, and careless and prohibited driving. The vehicle was towed by Reynolds Towing of Jackson County and placed on hold pending presentation of a valid driver's license and proof of ownership.
