On June 8, 2024, Hoboken Police Officers were called to the ShopRite, where loss prevention agents were detaining a 31-year-old woman accused of shoplifting $415.87 worth of items. The store claimed this is not the first time the woman has shoplifted and that facial recognition software alerted them to her presence. She was arrested and transported to the Hoboken police headquarters, where she was issued a summons for shoplifting. All suspects are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
