On May 7, 2022, officers responded to a disturbance at a local restaurant and identified a suspect with an active warrant for Aggravated Battery to a Police Officer. The encounter escalated immediately as the man backed against a window, refusing arrest and declaring, "Watch me go in a body bag". He threatened to "pull guns" on the officers and warned, "if you come at me I'm swinging," prompting police to un-holster a Taser. After a tense standoff where he actively resisted by stiffening his arms, officers successfully took him into custody; a subsequent search revealed a hidden straw containing a heroin/fentanyl mixture, resulting in additional felony charges.
