The Civilian Office of Police Accountability (COPA) has released body camera footage of a fatal police shooting involving a knife-wielding man inside a Little Village apartment building last month. Chicago police shot and killed 58-year-old Timothy Glaze on January 3 at the Albany Terrace Apartments, a Chicago Housing Authority complex for seniors, located in the 3000 block of West 21st Place. Earlier that morning, Chicago police received two 911 calls from a woman reporting that her boyfriend, Timothy Glaze, was harassing her and refusing to leave. She told the dispatcher that she was holding a screwdriver for protection while Glaze had her cornered with a knife. Officers responded to the building shortly after 2 a.m. following the domestic dispute report on the sixth floor. At around 2:18 a.m., body camera footage shows officers exiting an elevator and knocking on an open apartment door, announcing their presence. Moments later, a man wearing a dark hoodie and baseball cap stepped into the doorway. One officer is heard asking, "What's going on?" The man replied, "Nothing." He appeared to be holding a knife in his right hand and moved toward the officers. As he advanced, the officers backed into the hallway. Within seconds, two officers fired multiple shots, striking Glaze and causing him to collapse. Officers then approached, handcuffed Glaze, called for an ambulance, and began rendering aid. He was later pronounced dead. The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office identified the deceased as Timothy Glaze, of Cicero. No officers were injured in the incident, and police recovered a knife at the scene. 0:00 - Intro 0:11 - 911 calls 1:32 - Surveillance camera footage 2:06 - Officer #1 bodycam 3:09 - Shooting 5:38 - Officer #2 bodycam #breakingnews #ChicagoNews #PoliceShooting #CrimeNews #LawEnforcement #PublicSafety #ChicagoPolice #LittleVillage #DomesticDispute #BodyCamFootage #PoliceAccountability #UseOfForce #PoliceInvestigation #CivilianOversight #COPA #CriminalJustice #NewsUpdate #ViralNews #TrueCrime #KnifeAttack #SelfDefense Disclaimer: The following content contains graphic scenes of violence that may be disturbing to some viewers.
