On February 17, 2024, at about 6:57 PM, officers from the District A-1 (Downtown) Anti-Crime Unit arrested 41-year-old Robert Offutt of Cambridge after a foot pursuit near Tremont and Winter Streets. Officers had observed him walking away from a group after being approached, and during the chase a firearm was recovered on the ground. The weapon, a KBI PMK380 with an obliterated serial number, contained four rounds, and officers also seized suspected crack cocaine and cocaine packaged for distribution. At booking, Offutt gave a false name before being positively identified as wanted on multiple warrants. He was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition, possession of a defaced firearm, possession with intent to distribute Class B drugs, resisting arrest, identity fraud, and providing a false name to police. He was arraigned in Boston Municipal Court.
