On October 14, 2025, California Highway Patrol officers monitoring traffic on Highway 101 when they saw a blue Ford Mustang leave the Lucky 7 Fuel Mart parking lot at a high rate of speed. The Mustang was clocked traveling 52 miles per hour in a posted 25-mile-per-hour zone on North Indian Road. Officers also observed the vehicle weave and cross over the double-yellow lines before initiating a traffic stop on Dat-Naa-Sut Road. During the stop, an officer noticed what appeared to be a semiautomatic pistol lying on the front passenger seat. The driver said the gun was fake and that she had forgotten it was inside the vehicle. Officers determined it was an Airsoft BB pistol and also found a THC vape cartridge and battery in the center console. The driver told officers she was speeding because she was upset following a fight with her boyfriend. She also admitted smoking marijuana at the beach shortly before driving. CHP officers also observed slow movements, red and watery eyes, slurred speech and the odor of alcohol. Officers also reported balance problems, eyelid tremors and difficulty following instructions during field sobriety testing. The driver refused a preliminary roadside alcohol screening test. After her arrest, two chemical breath tests reportedly returned results of 0.01%. She was then transported to Sutter Coast Hospital for a blood draw. The driver was booked into the Del Norte County jail on the following charges: 23152(G) - Driving Under The Combined Influence Of Drugs And Alcohol California Highway Patrol officers involved: K. Ashcraft ID - 24670 Officer Owen ID - 23385 All persons are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. #police #chp #california #bodycam #delnorte
