bodycamzero.com -- full case archive, exclusive footage, and more On a Florida night earlier this year, a 57-year-old woman lost a tire on her Jeep and kept driving. Sparks flew from the bare rim. A witness watched her come down off the bridge with no rubber on the wheel, do a U-turn, hit the gas, and disappear up the road. A few minutes later, she rear-ended a car that was stopped at a red light. When the officer arrived, the man she hit told him exactly what had happened. The witness backed it up. The driver, Barbara Bishop, said she had a flat. She couldn't remember her own address. She kept asking where she was. The man she rear-ended said it plainly to the officer: "He couldn't even stand straight, young girl." The officer pulled her into the light to talk. He asked her about the crash. She admitted she didn't stop at the red light. He told her, "You shouldn't even have been driving in general." Then he said the words that changed the entire conversation: "I'm switching hats. I'm going from a crash investigation to a DUI investigation." Bishop didn't fight it. "You don't have to do any of that," she said. "I have been drinking." She told him she had one drink. He asked her what it was. She said: "Vodka." When he asked her to do a field sobriety test, she told him she wouldn't pass it. He asked her how she knew. She said: "Because I know the intoxication." She tried to perform the walk-and-turn test. She couldn't get her feet into the heel-to-toe stance. She tried the one-leg stand. She couldn't lift her foot. She failed everything by simply being unable to do it. He arrested her for DUI. At the station, she broke down. She told the officer she had never been arrested in her life. She got her own birthday wrong by six months. She compared the breath test to an asthma test. She told him quietly, "I've never been in trouble in my life." She blew twice. The legal limit in Florida is 0.08. She blew a 0.197. And then a 0.196.
