On February 20, 2024, St. Johns County Sheriff's Deputies were called to a traffic collision involving a vehicle that overturned in a golf course pond. A passing motorist jumped into the pond, smashed the window of the overturned vehicle, and was able to extricate the 21-year-old woman. Deputies and EMS personnel believed the woman was impaired so she was asked to perform standardized field sobriety tests. After the tests, she was placed under arrest for Driving Under the Influence. She refused, however, to submit to a breath test. Her charges and the outcome of her case are discussed at the end of the video.
