Sorry about the blurring/audio. This is from FWC following up on a White Ibis being shot and severely injured in Florida. Some records were expunged, and the rest was heavily redacted. See below for what was released. "On 06/19/2023 at approximately 1649 hours, I Officer Casey Schroer of The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) was on land patrol in Palm Beach County. I was dispatched to a call in Boca Raton, Florida to investigate a White Ibis that was reported to have been shot with an arrow. The White Ibis is a United States federally protected species under The Migratory Bird Treaty Act. I called the reporting party who said he found the bird injured (redacted) on 06/18/2023 at roughly 1830 hours. The reporting party took the bird to Pet Emergency Centers located at 921 East Cypress Creek Drive, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33334 at that time. Upon inspection of the bird, the emergency center made the decision to euthanize it due to the severity of its injuries. The reporting party said (redacted) the bird became injured. I asked the reporting party if he would (redacted) to my FWC agency email address and he did. The (redacted). The front window of that home did not have blinds and a complete view through the home to the rear sliding glass door was observed. (redacted) The reporting party also emailed a close-up photo of the injured bird as it lay in the driveway (see attached). I identified the bird as a White Ibis. (redacted) On 06/20/2023 at approximately 1733 hours, myself and Officer George Spirito of the FWC, went to the home at [EXPUNGED]. As we pulled up to the residence, I observed a dark blue Volkswagen sedan parked in front. I knocked on the door and met with Mr. [EXPUNGED] [EXPUNGED] (Pennsylvania driver license [EXPUNGED]). I introduced myself as an FWC state law enforcement officer and told him I received a call about a bird that was injured on 06/18/2023. I asked [EXPUNGED] if he shot the bird. Initially he said he did not. I explained to him (redacted) a man apparently carrying a bow he said he does have a crossbow and pointed to inside the house. I asked him again if he shot the bird. He then said he did shoot the bird. I asked him why he shot the bird. He did not have a response as to why he shot the bird. [EXPUNGED] consented to me entering the home where he produced the crossbow used to shoot the White Ibis. I photographed the crossbow using my agency issued cell phone (See attached). I asked him if the dark blue Volkswagen was his. He said it was. [EXPUNGED]’s driver license was expired since 03/31/2023. Officer Spirito asked him why he was driving if his driver license was expired. He said he has an appointment to get it renewed but had not done it yet. I issued [EXPUNGED] a notice to appear for violation of The Migratory Bird Treaty Act (Florida Administrative Code FAC 68a- 16.001(1)(a)) punishable as a second-degree misdemeanor."
