This video shows real Metropolitan Police body-worn video footage of a dramatic 20-minute pursuit through London that led to the arrest of a suspected robber carrying a knife. Earlier this year, officers investigating a linked series of violent robberies along Cycleway C10 in south east London identified the route as a key corridor being used by criminals. Victims reported moped-enabled robberies during commuter hours, with suspects targeting cyclists for high-value e-bikes, road bikes, mobile phones, watches and other personal belongings. As part of Operation Catchclaw, the Metropolitan Police initiative tackling mobile phone snatching, robbery and theft involving powered two-wheelers and high-speed e-bikes across London, officers carried out proactive patrols in the area. During one patrol, an officer on a Sur-Ron electric motorbike spotted a suspect riding an electric motorcycle and began a pursuit that continued for more than 20 minutes through the streets of south east London. The footage captures the chase unfolding in real time before two members of the public assist the officer in stopping the suspect. Moments later, the man is arrested and searched, where officers recover a lock knife concealed down his trousers. He is subsequently further arrested for possession of a bladed article. After more than 20 minutes on the run, the suspect's escape is ultimately brought to an end with the help of two members of the public. Spotting the officer in pursuit, they intervene to prevent the suspect from getting away, allowing police to make the arrest moments later. Their quick thinking helped bring a wanted suspect into custody and highlights the important role the public can play in helping police tackle crime. This video highlights the dangers faced by officers tackling robbery, knife crime and organised criminality across the capital, while demonstrating the proactive work being carried out every day to make London safer. The arrest forms part of wider efforts by the Metropolitan Police to tackle robbery, mobile phone theft, knife crime and violence. More than 3,000 weapons were removed from London's streets last year, while knife-enabled crime fell by 17% between June 2025 and June 2026.
