On February 15, 2024, The Akron Police were on patrol when an officer recognized a vehicle that was BOLO (Be on lookout) for several recent thefts. The officer turned around and began trying to catch up to the vehicle. The officer observed the vehicle go left of the double yellow lane marker as it was traveling eastbound on Johnston Street near Wilson Street and then again on Johnston Street near Black Street. The office conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle on Johnston Street near Buckingham Street. The officer discovered the driver to be Anthony. The driver told me that he did not have his driver's license on his person. The officer collected the information of the passengers. Joyce, who was identified as one of the suspects in the thefts, was found sitting in the middle back seat. Rodney was the rear passenger and resembled a suspect as well. While the office was running their information through the B.M.V./LEADS, another observed Fain reach his hands into his pants near his buttocks area. Fain exited the vehicle and the office instructed him to put his hands behind his back to conduct a terry frisk of him. Fain kept his hands tight and the officers had to force his hands behind his back. He was placed under arrest. During a search incident to arrest, the officer discovered a cigarette pack in his pocket that contained the listed crack pipe. Another officer observed a crack pipe in plain view on Samuels's lap, and he was placed under arrest. He was found to possess a digital scale in his pocket, and another crack pipe in the passenger door. Sherman was found to have a W.O.F. out of C.F.P.D. for theft, and the officers transported her there based on the Open warrants she had. During a probable cause search of the vehicle, Officers located several pieces of merchandise from T.J. Maxx with anti-theft tags still on them. One of the officers reached out to the T.J. Maxx in Fairlawn and Stow, but they stated that he had not had any reported thefts today. Fain was issued citations for No O.L. on the person and his Marked Lanes violations. Fain and Samuels were summonsed for the listed offenses. ⚠️Note: Footage from this video was obtained via the Ohio Public Records Act (R.C. 149.43) All persons featured on the channel are to be presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
