On January 9, 2023, Tallmadge Police Officers responded to a motor vehicle accident. By the time the first officer turns on his body camera, the 19-year-old driver is already out of the badly damaged vehicle and has allegedly admitted that she is drunk. As the rookie officer asks a more veteran officer a question, the woman gets up and tries to run away. She doesn't make it very far before being tackled and handcuffed. No field sobriety tests are performed and the woman is immediately arrested for DUI. She is transported to the Mogadore police station, since they have an officer that is certified to conduct an evidential breath test. The result of her test was 0.248% (more than 12 times the legal limit for someone under 21). She is transported back to the Tallmadge police station to complete the booking process. Her father is called to pick her up and when he arrives, the young woman has a melt-down and is transported to a local hospital to detox.
