On December 21, 2024, Santa Fe County Sheriff's Deputy Ward observed a vehicle swerving in lanes on Interstate 25. He initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle, which was being driven by a 23-year-old woman. The police report indicates that Deputy Ward observed bloodshot, watery eyes, and slurred speech. Deputy Ward also indicated that he could smell alcohol coming from the vehicle. He asked the woman if she had been drinking and she initially denied consuming any alcohol. Later in the conversation, the woman admitted to consuming 5 shot of Vodka earlier in the day. She was asked to perform standardized field sobriety tests, which led to her being arrested for Driving While Under the Influence. At the Sheriff's Office, she submitted to an evidential breath test and the result was 0.16% BAC. Her charges and the outcome of the case are discussed at the end of the video.
