The Ohio State Highway Patrol conducted an investigation into a fatal accident that resulted in the death of a Newcomerstown resident. The collision occurred on State Route 258 and involved a Mercury Grand Marquis and a horse-drawn buggy. A trooper from the New Philadelphia Post reported that the buggy's rider, 52-year-old Menno Troyer, was declared dead at the scene. The accident report reveals that Benjamin Henry, who was driving eastbound, veered across the center line and collided with the westbound buggy. "The driver, Mr. Henry, left the scene but was located about a mile away by the Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Office. His car was found in a ditch," said Shirer. Henry, a 68-year-old from Port Washington, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence. He is currently in the Tuscarawas County jail awaiting further legal action. The response team included troopers, deputies, and personnel from the Newcomerstown Fire Department and Tri-County Ambulance. ⚠️Note: Footage from this video was obtained via the Ohio Public Records Act (R.C. 149.43) All persons featured on the channel are to be presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
