BOWLING GREEN, OH - At 2:20AM on November 11th, 2022, a Bowling Green Patrol Officer observed a blue 2018 Toyota Camry operating without headlights on at night. The officer activated his emergency lights and pulled over the driver on Thurstin St. at the E. Wooster St. intersection. Upon approaching the vehicle, the officer was able to detect a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from the vehicle. The suspect was then asked to step out of the vehicle to which she obliged. After the suspect had confirmed that she had no issues that would prevent her from performing a field sobriety test (FST), the officer explained to her the horizontal gaze nystagmus (HGN) test. The suspect was observed having lack of smooth pursuit in both eyes and sustained and distinct nystagmus at 45 degrees. For the walk-and-turn test, the suspect did not maintain the starting position and performed an improper turn. During the one leg stand test, the suspect was swaying and extended her arms for balance. Finally, the suspect recited the alphabet correctly. Following the FST, the suspect was arrested for operating a vehicle under the influence, or OVI, and brought to the Bowling Green Police Department for further processing. Once there, she refused to provide a breath alcohol sample and was charged with OVI with a prior and refusal in 20 years.
