On January 18, 2026, Rio Rancho Police Officers responded to a report of a disabled vehicle. Officers arrived to find a 20-year-old woman standing outside of her car, which had an excessive oil leak. Officers noted in the police report that the woman appeared intoxicated. As a result, she was asked to perform standardized field sobriety tests. At the end of the tests, she was placed under arrest. She refused to provide breath samples. She was charged with (1) Aggravated Driving While Under the Influence (DWI) of Liquor; and (2) Careless Driving. On June 2, 2026, she pleaded guilty to an amended charge of Non-Aggravated DWI. Both of the original charges were dismissed. She was ordered to complete DWI School, perform Community Service, and install an Ignition Interlock Device on her vehicle.
