Akron Police were in the area of Mercer Avenue and Cadillac Boulevard when they observed a gray Chevy Impala, license plate R637910, traveling northbound on Mercer Avenue and committing a marked lanes violation. As they turned around to catch up to the vehicle, it began to flee at a high rate of speed. As officers proceeded northbound on Storer Avenue, the vehicle turned off all its lights while traveling at speeds of approximately 70 mph in a residential neighborhood. Dispatch was advised of the chase, and the vehicle abruptly pulled to the left side of the road in front of 290 Noble Avenue. The driver, Montrell Younger, was ordered out of the vehicle and placed in handcuffs. The two passengers, Antonio and Antonio, were also ordered out of the vehicle and secured in handcuffs. Under Miranda, Younger stated he ran because he was scared. He also admitted to telling the passengers he knew he was going to get pulled over and that he had to get home. Younger was placed under arrest for failure to comply and booked into the Summit County Sheriff's Office (SCSO) without incident. He was issued a traffic citation, and the vehicle was towed. ⚠️Note: Footage from this video was obtained via the Ohio Public Records Act (R.C. 149.43) All persons featured on the channel are to be presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
