While patrolling the city, an Akron police officer spotted Janos Jalics walking in the middle of E. Market St. Heading westbound. The officer pulled up alongside Jalics and instructed him to move onto the sidewalk. Jalics retorted, "I understand. You're wasting taxpayer dollars," but continued walking in the roadway. The officer circled back and approached Jalics again, urging him to use the sidewalk. Jalics responded dismissively, stating, "What a waste of taxpayers' dollars. Move on." Exiting the patrol car, the officer repeatedly directed Jalics to stop walking away. Jalics only halted when the officer closed the distance and grabbed his coat. Despite instructions to place his hands behind his back, Jalics resisted, tensing his body and attempting to pull away. Even after multiple verbal commands, Jalics refused to cooperate. Managing to break free momentarily, Jalics was again restrained by the officer, who executed a leg sweep, causing Jalics to fall. Maintaining control until backup arrived, the officer continued to order Jalics to comply, to no avail. With assistance, they finally managed to handcuff Jalics without further incident. During the scuffle, Jalics sustained minor facial scrapes, prompting attention from AFD. Additionally, Jalics possessed items deemed unacceptable by Summit County, including a child's lightsaber, which were tagged as found property. ⚠️Note: Footage from this video was obtained via the Ohio Public Records Act (R.C. 149.43) All persons featured on the channel are to be presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
