On October 26, 2024, at approximately 2:40 a.m., Police Officers Zackary Guido and Aaron Font were on patrol in the area of Newark and Washington Streets when they saw a fight and attempted to break it up. One of those involved, later identified as 22-year-old Shamar Williams of Manhattan, ran from the scene and multiple officers followed. When they caught up to him, Williams was placed under arrest and transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters. He was charged with resisting or eluding arrest and disorderly conduct. He was released from custody. These charges are merely accusations and the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty. An arrest is not a finding of guilt: that’s something for a court to decide.
