Elmhurst Police saw a car driving strangely. The car was heading west on West Avenue. Martinez found a black 2024 Mazda. It matched the description. The car was stopped at a red light. She started following it. The driver kept swerving. The car nearly hit another vehicle. Martinez turned on her lights. She initiated a traffic stop. The driver pulled over. The driver was Jacqueline Sandoval, age 23. She told Martinez she was going home. She had eaten at a restaurant with her boyfriend. He asked if she drank anything. Sandoval said no. Martinez suspected she was impaired. She asked Sandoval to get out. Another officer arrived to help. They conducted field sobriety tests. Her performance showed she was impaired. After the tests, Sandoval took a breathalyzer. The test showed a blood alcohol content of 0.162%. This was over double the legal limit. Martinez arrested Sandoval for DUI. She put on handcuffs. Sandoval went into the patrol car. She was taken to the Villa Park Police Station. During the ride, Sandoval slipped her cuffs. She was in the back of the car.
