On Wednesday, January 31, 2024, officers responded to a reported shoplifting incident at a Target store in Villa Park, Illinois. Loss prevention reported that two suspects attempted to leave the store with unpaid merchandise. Upon arrival, officers secured both suspects and began investigating. During the investigation, officers spoke with store loss prevention, gathered witness statements, reviewed available evidence, and documented the recovered merchandise, which was valued at approximately $1,400. Following the investigation, both individuals were taken into custody. Based on the conduct documented in the body camera footage, the following charges could potentially apply, depending on each individual's alleged role in the incident: • Retail Theft • Accountability (if applicable) Final charging decisions rest with prosecutors.
