On April 9, 2024, a 31-year-old woman walked into the Harbor Freight store in Las Cruces, New Mexico and loaded up a backpack and trash bag full of merchandise and walked out. Officer Ortiz located the woman minutes later and arrested her. She provided a fake name and then claimed that she ingested some pills, which required a response from Las Cruces Fire Department and a trip to the emergency room. While at the emergency room, officers used a fingerprint scanner to reveal her true identity. Meanwhile, officers responded to the Harbor Freight and learned that the woman is a serial shoplifter, who had allegedly stolen more than $10,000 worth of merchandise in the past 90 days. She was charged with 6 felony shoplifting charges and several misdemeanor charges, which are discussed at the end of the video. Her case is still open and all suspects are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
