On April 7, 2026, police bodycam footage captured a Monroe County traffic stop in Marathon, Florida after a deputy clocked a blue Toyota RAV4 at 74 in a 35 at 4:29 in the morning and watched it speed up to 80 once the lights and sirens came on. This real body cam video shows the high speed fleeing and eluding arrest and the interview that followed, where the driver told deputies she belonged in jail. Marianela Baez Dorta, 55, turned down a side street and parked under a duplex she had no connection to. Asked why, she told deputies she "did not want to be exposed." She confirmed she saw the lights, confirmed she heard the sirens, and confirmed she increased her speed anyway. She then described herself as an aggressive driver who should not be on the road and said she should be in jail. Charges: high speed fleeing and eluding, two counts of battery on a specified person, and threatening a law enforcement officer with death or serious bodily harm. Three felonies and one misdemeanor. The battery charges stem from an incident at the Key West Detention Center after the stop, which is not shown in this footage. Charges are allegations; all parties are presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
