On October 9, 2025, California Highway Patrol officers assigned to a Crime Suppression Task Force were conducting patrol in Los Angeles County when their attention was drawn to a Chevrolet Silverado traveling on Smithway Street near Leo Avenue. CHP Officers observed multiple vehicle code violations and initiated a traffic stop. As officers approached, they observed the driver making suspicious movements inside the vehicle consistent with attempting to conceal an object. Before the officers could make contact, the driver suddenly fled, initiating a pursuit through city streets. During the pursuit, the suspect drove at high speeds, ran red lights, crossed medians, and maneuvered through traffic in a reckless manner, creating a significant danger to the public. The chase continued onto Interstate 5, where the driver reportedly reached speeds of approximately 70 miles per hour and used the shoulder to pass vehicles. The suspect eventually exited the freeway and came to a stop at a dead-end street, where CHP officers conducted a felony stop with a K-9 unit. The driver complied with all commands and was taken into custody without further incident. During a search, officers located a Smith & Wesson M&P 9mm magazine containing multiple rounds of ammunition in the suspect's pants pocket. A subsequent vehicle inventory revealed a box containing numerous individually packaged items suspected to be narcotics, which were later seized for further investigation. The suspect was transported and booked into the Glendale PD Jail on the following charges: VC 2800.2(a) — Felony Evading a Peace Officer PC 30305(a)(1) — Possession of Ammunition by a Prohibited Person California Highway Patrol Officers involved: Sergeant A.
