On April 3, 2025, officers with the Joliet Police Department responded to a reported retail theft in progress at a Kohl’s store in Plainfield, Illinois. According to police, loss prevention employees recognized 36-year-old William S. Nobles and watched him allegedly conceal merchandise inside his clothing. When an officer approached him inside the store, Nobles initially identified himself as “Armani.” During the encounter, officers recovered merchandise they said had been concealed inside his jacket. But when police attempted to detain him, the situation quickly escalated. According to the police report, Nobles slipped out of his jacket and ran from the store before getting into a Honda Ridgeline and leaving the area. Officers later located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop, but police say Nobles ran again. During the second foot pursuit, an officer deployed a Taser before Nobles was ultimately taken into custody. Police later discovered that Nobles was wearing an electronic ankle monitor and was on pretrial release in connection with a previous case. He was charged with felony retail theft, resisting or obstructing a peace officer, obstructing identification, and violation of conditions of pretrial release. This video presents body-worn camera footage and publicly available information surrounding the police response, arrest, and circumstances documented in the case. The purpose of this video is to provide newsworthy and educational coverage of law-enforcement interactions and to give viewers greater context regarding events captured on police body-worn cameras. All allegations discussed are based on police reports and charging information. A criminal charge is an accusation and does not by itself establish guilt. #Bodycam #PoliceBodycam #Shoplifting #RetailTheft #Police #CaughtOnCamera
