It really helps us do original reporting like this. 🔍 Episode Overview: Officer Mark McCoy saw a car swerve early July 8, 2025. The white Volkswagen Atlas moved into a turn lane on South Harrison Street. It then went north, crossing Nassau Street onto North Harrison Street. The officer watched the driver swerve repeatedly. The car was driven in an unsafe way. He stopped the vehicle on Terhune Road. Officer McCoy spoke with the driver, Surisadda Madera. He smelled alcohol on her. She seemed unsteady. Surisadda said she was going home from a friend's house. She denied drinking any alcohol. He asked her to say the alphabet and count back from 77 to 54. She knew the alphabet. She could not count backward correctly. Officers Tomi Odulana and Kenneth Kim arrived. Surisadda was asked to get out of the car. She then performed field sobriety tests. Officer Odulana gave her the HGN test. He saw her eyes move unevenly. They stayed jerky at the farthest point. Her eyes started jerky before the 45-degree mark. He also saw vertical nystagmus. Next, she took the Walk and Turn test. Surisadda did not step heel-to-toe. Her turn was also wrong. Finally, she took the One Leg Stand test. She did not lift her foot correctly. She also lost her balance. Her bad driving, the smell of alcohol, and her test failures led to her arrest. She was charged with driving while drunk. In the patrol car, she cried loudly. She was taken to the Princeton Police Department. Officer Odulana stayed with the car. It was towed for a 12-hour hold, as required by John's Law. At the station, Surisadda heard the Standard Statement. She first agreed to a breath test. However, she would not cooperate with the Alcotest. She was charged with refusing the test. After processing, a friend picked her up. She signed the Potential Liability Warning form for Surisadda. Officer McCoy gave her these tickets: Driving under the influence. Refusing a chemical test. Consent to breath samples. Reckless driving. Failure to keep right. 2:38 I’m shocked that he’s letting her rummage through things like this 7:56 she actually thought it was appropriate to tell Patrolman Odulana If you enjoyed this BodyCamBust video.
