On December 8, 2023, Miami Township police received a call about a reckless driver that nearly hit several vehicles. Officers Dossenback and Rees located the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop. The police report states that the 37-year-old woman was lethargic, had slurred speech, and appeared confused. She was asked to perform standardized field sobriety tests. Officers, however, concluded that she was not impaired by alcohol. While they were speaking with her, she stated she was not feeling well and requested EMS. Officers ran a criminal history check on the woman while she was being evaluated by EMS. They determined that she had a previous Operating a Vehicle Impaired (OVI) conviction in 2019, 2021, and 2022. The 4th OVI arrest in a 10-year period would be a felony. She was arrested and transported to the Miami Township police station.
