Retired Marine Stephen Lara was pulled over on Interstate 80 for following a tanker truck too closely. Ninety minutes later, Nevada Highway Patrol had seized his entire life savings: $86,900 in cash. No drugs. No weapons. No charges. Welcome to Bodycam Diary, where we let the footage tell the story. In this video, we break down the full bodycam of Stephen's stop, the highway interdiction tactics used by the troopers, the federal "equitable sharing" program with the DEA, and how Stephen fought back with the Institute for Justice to get his money returned and win a landmark ruling in Nevada. ⚖️ WHAT IS CIVIL ASSET FORFEITURE? Civil asset forfeiture lets law enforcement seize cash and property suspected of being tied to a crime, without a criminal charge or conviction. 🔔 SUPPORT BODYCAM DIARY These videos take sleepless nights of footage review and research.
