Lt. Col. Michelle Bongiovi, 59, is a U.S. Air Force periodontist with more than 30 years of service at one of the military’s most elite units. On a February afternoon in Florida, deputies clocked her BMW doing 73 in a 55 — and what happened next ended with her window smashed out and the colonel in handcuffs. She refused to hand over her license. She refused to step out of the car. Deputies say she had dilated pupils and made bizarre statements. Was this impairment, panic, or something else — and why did a routine speeding stop escalate this far? In this video we break down the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office bodycam — the pursuit, the standoff at the window, the arrest, the charges, and the questions the footage leaves behind. All footage is public record, used for documentary and educational purposes. All individuals are presumed innocent unless proven otherwise in a court of law.
