If you like regular arrest content, be sure to check out our other channel @ArrestCam Officers with Florida Fish and Wildlife were on patrol in federal waters when they observed a commercial shrimping vessel with crew members actively fishing with rods and reels. They made contact to conduct a resource inspection. In total, FWC officers counted 322 lane snapper, 6 yellowtail snapper, 6 mangrove snapper, 2 wrung lobster tails, and 22 egg bearing blue crab. This puts them 274 snapper over their combined snapper aggregate bag limit of 60. Regarding state charges: Ernesto, the captain, and his deckhand Elvis were both charged possession of wrung lobster tail, possession of out of season lobster, and possession of 10 gallons of whole blue crabs. However, the state charges were later dropped. The main legal argument made by the defense attorney hinges on the fact that the vessel was not registered in the state of Florida as it was over 6 months expired. In federal waters, FWC can only enforce vessels registered in FL. On the other hand, Mongalo was charged with being in possession of undersized lobster, being in possession of out of season lobster, and possession of egg bearing blue crab. He failed to appear to his court appearance and a warrant has been issued for his arrest. The fish were referred over to NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration). We cannot confirm the outcome of the NOAA fines but they were facing a $7,600.00 fine. If you like this video and want to see more like it, Subscribe to Arrest Cam.
