Regina Viramontes, 25, was arrested in El Paso, Texas, after police said a traffic stop turned into a physical struggle inside a retail shop. According to the arrest report, an El Paso police officer tried to stop Viramontes on April 22 after spotting a vehicle without license plates near Yandell Drive. Police said she ignored commands, walked away, and went inside a business instead of stopping. The report says officers later entered the shop after backup arrived. Police alleged Viramontes resisted arrest by pulling away, stiffening her arms, and kicking officers while they tried to handcuff her. As officers escorted her out, the report alleges she spat on an officer’s face. Police said the officer then punched her multiple times to stop her from spitting again. The arrest footage later went viral online. KFOX reported that marijuana was also found in her car, and the vehicle was impounded because police said it had no insurance or valid registration. Viramontes was booked into the El Paso County Downtown Jail on April 23 and charged with marijuana possession, harassment of a public servant, resisting arrest, and evading arrest. Her combined bond was listed at $6,600, and records showed she was released on April 24 after posting bond. #bodycam #police #arrest
