Broken windows. A metal pipe. A back massager. And two neighbors with completely different stories. On October 3, 2021, Atlanta Police officers responded to an apartment complex on Oakland Drive Southwest after a dispute between neighbors turned into a chaotic confrontation. According to the police report, Alonzo Wilkinson said his neighbor, Willie Williams, had earlier punched out the front window of his apartment. Later that day, Wilkinson claimed Williams entered his apartment and swung a metal pipe during a fight. Williams told officers he had only gone to retrieve a back massager he believed Wilkinson had taken from his roommate. He denied having a weapon and gave police a very different account of what happened inside the apartment. As officers investigated, witnesses also alleged that Wilkinson had damaged windows at Williams’ apartment. What started as a broken-window complaint quickly became a confusing, chaotic situation with damage on both sides and multiple competing stories. In this episode of Atlanta Crime Files, we break down the body-camera footage and the events that unfolded on Oakland Drive. All individuals are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
