*Today's video is dedicated to the awesome channel members of Arkansas Police Activity. Your support is greatly appreciated. Have a blessed week and stay safe!* On February 24, 2025, at approximately 6:37 A.M., Trooper First Class Tanner Hess with the Arkansas State Police, was traveling eastbound on Interstate 40 near the 2-mile marker. I observed a Blue Ram 2500 pickup truck, bearing California license plate 40250Z3, following a tractor trailer too closely. I estimated that the pickup was traveling approximately one second behind the tractor trailer, so considering speed, distance, reaction time, and stopping time, it was evident to me that the pickup was following at an unsafe distance behind the tractor trailer. I also observed the pickup veer onto the white fog line, so I initiated a traffic stop for both violations. I made contact with the driver, who was the only occupant in the pickup, and he was later identified as ROBERT BARON LEVIE. I asked LEVIE where he was heading, and he told me Memphis. I asked LEVIE where he rented the truck, and he told me California. I questioned LEVIE to find out what the purpose of his trip was, and he claimed that he was visiting family. I asked LEVIE how long he was staying, and he told me a couple days before explaining maybe three or four. LEVIE apologized to me for getting too close to the truck. I explained to LEVIE that I would let him wake up a little bit and had him step to my passenger side while I ran his license. I returned to my patrol car for a computer check, and LEVIE did eventually come back to the passenger side of my patrol car. I told LEVIE that I wanted to ask him about his rental, and I told him that it was supposed to be returned on the first (I was referring to the 1st of February). LEVIE told me he extended it. I questioned LEVIE to find out whether or not he had ever been in any kind of trouble. LEVIE told me a long time ago. I asked LEVIE what he got in trouble for, and he told me possession of marijuana. I asked LEVIE if it was a misdemeanor charge or a felony charge, but he claimed that he didn’t recall. I questioned LEVIE to find out whether or not he was carrying marijuana today, and he verbally denied. Up until this point of the traffic stop, LEVIE seemed polite and cooperative. I questioned LEVIE to see if he would drop the tailgate to let me make sure that he didn’t have any back there. LEVIE then seemed to become agitated and denied opening the tailgate. I asked LEVIE if he had proof of his rental agreement getting extended, and he told me “yeah, I think I do”. I explained to LEVIE that I would let him stand in the ditch and pull it up for me, and I deployed my canine partner, “Kaos”, for a vehicle sniff. Kaos indicated to the odor of narcotics near the driver’s side rear tire, and I opened the tailgate of the pickup. There were bags in the rear portion of the pickup that contained a large quantity of individual packages of suspected marijuana.  LEVIE was arrested, and I later asked LEVIE where his phone was because I was going to seize it for evidence. I assume that LEVIE dropped the phone on the ground purposely, because he tried to stomp on it while it was on the ground. The phone screen and/or screen protector had damage(s) to it, but the phone was still operable. The pickup was driven to the Drug Task Force Office, and LEVIE was transported there as well. A total of sixteen bags containing individual packages of suspected marijuana were counted, and the total weight is believed to be approximately 266 pounds. Two containers containing suspected THC liquid/wax were also located, and the total weight is believed to be approximately 7 pounds. The cell phone was seized for evidence, and the transfer of evidence to (DTF) was documented on a Receipt for Evidence/Property Form. LEVIE was later transported to the Crawford County Jail for the following: possess with purpose to deliver more than 100 pounds but less than 500 pounds of a schedule VI-controlled substance, a class A felony, possess drug paraphernalia, a class D felony, following too closely, and careless and prohibited driving.
