On January 10, 2024, a witness observed the individual forcing the exit doors open with a shopping cart completely full of alcoholic beverages, bypassing all points of sale. When confronted in the parking lot by an employee, the suspect refused to show a receipt, slammed the door of a waiting taxi cab, and fled the area. Responding officers quickly located the taxi at a nearby discount store, where the driver explained the suspect had abruptly fled on foot. Inside the cab, police found the stolen merchandise, which included dozens of bottles of premium liquor and beer. Officers searched the surrounding area and discovered the suspect in a hardware store parking lot. After initially providing a false identity to law enforcement, the individual was correctly identified and found to have an active arrest warrant. The suspect later admitted to entering the store with the sole intent of stealing because he needed money. He faced multiple felony charges, including burglary and retail theft over $300, alongside a misdemeanor for obstructing identification. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty
