On October 4, 2025, Prescott Police officers responded to reports of a woman urinating in public near Montezuma and Gurley Street, on the same block as the Yavapai County Courthouse Plaza. Officers found Yavapai County Superior Court Judge Pro Tempore Kristyne Schaaf-Olson on a bench after witnesses flagged them down. The judge appeared intoxicated, struggled to spell her own name, and identified herself to officers as "Judge Kristyne Olson." Her husband Jason Olson, the Parks and Recreation Manager for the Town of Chino Valley, arrived on scene and attempted to pull his wife away from officers, repeatedly ignoring commands to step back. Officers took him to the ground and arrested him. Schaaf-Olson was cited for public urination. Jason Olson was cited for resisting arrest, interfering with a crime scene investigation, and obstruction of government operations. He was booked into the Yavapai County Jail. Two days later, Judge Schaaf-Olson resigned from the bench.
