On October 18, 2025, Las Cruces Police Officers responded to a single car motor vehicle accident. Officer Lopez arrived to find a Ford flipped on its side and the electrical power out in the neighborhood. The 21-year-old driver admitted to consuming three Twisted Teas before the accident. As a result, she was asked to perform standardized field sobriety tests. She was subsequently placed under arrest and handcuffed. Family members arrived and were allowed the opportunity to speak with her while she sat in the back of the police vehicle. She was eventually transported to the Las Cruces Police Station, where she agreed to submit breath samples. The result of both breath samples was 0.20% BAC. She was charged with Aggravated Driving While Under the Influence. Her case is still open and all suspects are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
