Late at night outside an Orlando bar, officers discovered a vehicle running in park with a driver slumped over the wheel. Despite the engine being hot and the lights off, the situation became tense as the officers tried to avoid startling the driver. When approached, the driver appeared confused and was slow to respond. Officers noted the smell of alcohol and suspected she was in actual physical control of the vehicle, even though it was parked. The driver, who argued she wasn't driving, questioned why she was being detained. Officers requested identification and asked her to step out to assess her ability to drive. She repeatedly refused to exit or perform field sobriety tests, despite being warned that refusal could be used against her in court. As officers attempted to arrest her, she tried to start the car and physically resisted. After a brief struggle, she was pulled from the vehicle, pinned, and handcuffed. She was charged with DUI and resisting arrest and later entered a pretrial diversion program. The suspect remains innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
