On May 5, 2025, Deputy Isaac Houston with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office was conducting a proactive patrol in Orlando, Florida, when he observed a Black female wearing a multicolored shirt and black pants walking north on South Orange Blossom Trail, carrying a black bag. According to the report, the deputy noticed the woman was not using the proper side of the crosswalk and initiated a stop using his overhead lights and sirens. When he exited his patrol vehicle, he gave multiple verbal commands for her to walk toward him. The woman, later identified as the defendant, initially refused to comply, stating “no” and stepping away as the deputy approached. Deputy Houston then detained her and attempted to place her in handcuffs. The report notes that she tensed and braced her arms, refusing to allow the deputy to secure her. After being placed in handcuffs, a search of her black bag revealed two glass pipes containing burnt copper wire. A field test returned a positive result for cocaine residue. She was arrested and charged with Resisting an Officer Without Violence (F.S.S. 843.02) and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (F.S.S. 893.147(1)). The glass pipes and bag were entered into evidence. Court records show she appeared before a judge later that same day, entered a plea of no contest, and was adjudicated guilty on both charges. She was sentenced to four days in the Orange County Jail with credit for one day served and was ordered to pay $273 in court costs by November 5, 2025.
