A man wanted for assaulting his wife rammed a Doraville police car during a traffic stop, then climbed into the officer's driver's seat. On January 19, 2023, officers with the Doraville Police Department in DeKalb County, Georgia, were searching for 41-year-old Walfre Bautista Miranda. Two weeks earlier, he had been arrested on a family violence battery charge involving his wife and released on bond under a no-contact order. The night before, he was accused of assaulting her again, and warrants were out for his arrest. That morning, his son called police to report that Miranda was armed with a machete. Officers found his white Ford Transit van leaving a storage facility on Chestnut Drive and stopped it on DeKalb Technology Parkway near Chamblee Tucker Road. What happened next was captured on dash cam and body cam. This video includes dash cam and body cam footage of the search, the traffic stop, the officer-involved shooting, and the aftermath, along with the full timeline of what happened before the cameras started rolling. It closes with the court outcome from our team's research. All footage was obtained through public records requests. The victims' identities have been protected. Case outcome information is based on public court records. Anyone shown in this video who was not convicted of a crime is presumed innocent.
