#CrimeCamNow On April 20, 2022, Sandy Springs police officers responded to Synovus Bank in Sandy Springs, Georgia, after receiving reports of a man attempting to open a bank account using a fake ID. The suspect seemed caught off guard when officers arrived and was promptly handcuffed for safety. Bank staff informed the officers that they had received an email alert earlier, warning them about this individual and advising them to contact the police if he showed up. When questioned, the suspect initially denied any wrongdoing, claiming he wasn’t using a fake ID. However, a search of his wallet revealed multiple IDs, raising further suspicion. Officers offered him a chance to come clean, explaining that cooperating could reduce his charges from a felony to a misdemeanor. After being read his Miranda rights, he agreed to speak and eventually confessed to using a fake ID to open a bank account. He was charged with first-degree forgery, falsifying identification documents, financial identity fraud, possession of multiple licenses and transported to Fulton County Jail.
