On September 17, 2023, Pepper Pike Police Officers responded to a report of a driver running into a curb and the vehicle becoming disabled. Sgt. Munn located the vehicle and its 23 year-old driver. The woman claimed she had called her mom and dad and was waiting for them to come and help her. Sgt. Munn, however, realized that the woman was impaired and called for a backup unit to assist him in administering field sobriety exercises. The closest backup unit was an officer from the Beachwood Police Department. The driver performed poorly on the field sobriety exercises and was arrested for DUI. All this occurred while mom and dad watched. She was taken to the Beachwood Jail, where she submitted to an evidentiary breath test (EBT). The results of the EBT were 0.166% (over twice the legal limit).
