Please like, comment, and SHARE! 🙏 🔍 Episode Overview: At 2:00 AM on May 23, 2024, Sergeant Stephen Panepinto of the Colts Neck Police responded to a crash. A white 2011 Honda Crosstour had crashed in the southbound lane of Route 34 near Blackbriar Drive. The car had heavy front-end damage and the airbags had gone off. Panepinto spoke with the driver, 24-year-old Ruby Arena. Ruby said she was driving home from her sister's house in Belmar. She later told the officer she had been drinking at a bar there. Panepinto noticed signs that she was impaired. He called Patrolman Alexander Perkins for help. Once Perkins arrived, Ruby got out of the car for field sobriety tests. Ruby struggled with the Walk and Turn test. She could not touch heel-to-toe and failed to keep her arms at her sides. She also failed the One Leg Stand test. She did not lift her foot right and messed up the counting sequence. Patrolman Campan then gave her the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus test. Police arrested Ruby for driving under the influence. They based this on the crash, the smell of alcohol, her own words, and her poor test results. Officers handcuffed her and put her in a patrol car. Her car was impounded for 12 hours under John's Law. At the Colts Neck Police Department, Ruby agreed to a breath test. The Alcotest showed a BAC of 0.158 percent. This was nearly double the legal limit of 0.08 percent. After processing, Ruby's father signed a liability form and took her home until her court date.
