It really helps us do original reporting like this. 🔍 Episode Overview: On September 13, 2024, around 2:03 AM, Officer Thomas Krueger of the Geneva Police Department responded to a crash at the corner of East State Street and East Side Drive. The call came after a pedestrian sign was hit and severely damaged. When he arrived, he saw a silver 2007 Ford F-150 with front-end damage, clearly caused by hitting the sign. The truck was empty, showing the driver had left the scene. Witnesses later saw the driver walking on the sidewalk nearby. An officer approached her, and Officer Krueger joined him. She was identified as 23-year-old Julianna Sakar. At first, Julianna denied owning the truck. But she soon admitted she was the driver. She told officers she had been drinking earlier at a bar, where she also worked. Fearing she might be drunk, the officers asked her to do some field sobriety tests. The first test was the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus (HGN). Next was the Walk and Turn. Julianna failed that test, because she didn’t touch heel-to-heel properly. She also turned incorrectly and took too many steps. The last test was the One Leg Stand. Julianna did not lift her foot right and put it down early. Given the crash, her admission to drinking, and her poor performance on the tests, Officer Phillips arrested Julianna for DUI. After handcuffing her, she agreed to a preliminary breath test. It showed her blood alcohol content was 0.159%. Julianna was then placed in the patrol car and taken to the Geneva Police Department. Officer Krueger transported her for more processing. Meanwhile, another officer stayed behind to arrange for the vehicle to be towed. At the police station, Julianna refused to give a breath sample. After processing, she was released but told to appear in court. Julianna faced several charges: -Driving under the influence of alcohol (625 ILCS 5/11-501(a)(2)) -Improper lane use (625 ILCS 5/11-709(a)) -Failing to slow down to prevent a crash (625 ILCS 5/11-601(a)) She was arrested again in St. Charles, Illinois, on February 23, 2025. 4:27 I didn’t see the curb… Damn i hate those moving curbs!
