Please like, comment, and SHARE! 🙏 🔍 Episode Overview: Just after 11:59 p.m. on November 3, 2023, West Amwell Township Patrolman James LaRocca was driving along State Highway 179. He saw a BMW heading south at 78 mph in a 50 mph zone. As he began to follow it, the driver crossed into the northbound lane and passed a car ahead. LaRocca turned on his lights. The BMW stopped, as did the other car nearby. LaRocca first spoke with the other driver, who said he was the ex-boyfriend of the woman in the BMW. He then approached the BMW’s driver, later identified as Anastasiya. She told LaRocca she had been trying to get away from her ex after a verbal argument and was driving home to Pennsylvania. As they spoke, he smelled alcohol on her breath and called for backup, suspecting she was impaired. When Officer Smith arrived, Anastasiya was asked to take field sobriety tests. LaRocca gave her the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus test, followed by the Walk and Turn. She did not touch heel to toe with each step, count aloud, or take the correct number of steps. On the One Leg Stand, she struggled to lift her foot as instructed and used her arms to keep her balance. Based on her driving, the smell of alcohol, and her test performance, LaRocca arrested Anastasiya for DUI. Her car was impounded for at least 12 hours under John’s Law, and she was taken to the police station. There, officers read her the rights required for motor vehicle operators. She agreed to provide breath samples. Sergeant Gray of the Delaware Township Police Department operated the Alcotest machine, which measured her blood alcohol level at 0.05%. Afterward, officers released Anastasiya to a friend. She signed a form acknowledging potential legal responsibility and received citations for DUI, reckless driving, and speeding 25 to 29 mph over the limit. Court records show that on February 7, 2024, the DUI and speeding charges were dropped. Anastasiya pleaded guilty to reckless driving. Her license was revoked for 30 days, and she paid $240 in fines.
