On February 15, 2025, Lakewood Police Sergeant Bunner observed the driver of a vehicle commit several traffic violations. He initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle, which was being driven by a 33-year-old woman. The police report indicates that Sgt. Bunner could smell alcohol coming from the woman. The woman admitted to consuming three martinis earlier in the evening. She also stated she was driving her two passengers, which included her underage stepdaughter, to a local wine bar. The woman was asked to step out of the vehicle in order to perform standardized field sobriety tests. However, she was unable to follow instructions and due to her level of intoxication, the tests were stopped. The woman was then placed under arrest for Operating a Vehicle Impaired (OVI). After being read her Miranda Rights, she admitted to consuming tequila in addition to the martinis. The police report indicates she submitted to a breath alcohol test and the result was 0.251% BAC.
