Police K9 bodycam from Pierce County, Washington: a driver with no plates takes off from a traffic stop at 1:50 a.m., leads deputies on a pursuit in a freshly stolen car, bails out of the still-moving vehicle and runs through backyards — until K9 Clark picks up the track. This police K9 bodycam release from the Pierce County Sheriff's Office shows the dashcam pursuit, the bail-out, the K9 track fence to fence and the K9 apprehension inside an enclosed trailer. WHAT HAPPENED Early on July 22, 2026, at 1:50 a.m., a deputy tried to stop a car with no license plates near 72nd St. E and 9th Ave. Ct. E in unincorporated Tacoma. The driver sped away. Suspecting the car was stolen, deputies stayed with it; the pursuit ended in the 7100 block of Roosevelt Ave. when the driver bailed out of the moving car, losing a shoe on the way, and fled on foot over multiple fences. Deputies confirmed the car had been stolen hours earlier. K9 Clark and his handler picked up the scent and tracked through several backyards; the track ended when Clark located the suspect hiding inside an enclosed trailer in the backyard of a nearby home. The 19-year-old was checked by fire personnel and booked into the Pierce County Jail. Charges: felony eluding, possession of a stolen motor vehicle, driving with a suspended license, resisting arrest, obstructing a law enforcement officer, and unlawfully making and possessing motor vehicle theft tools.
