Clarence Coyl asked a federal wildlife officer why he was being arrested. Seconds later, the officer deployed a Taser beside a fuel pump—and Coyl caught fire. According to FOX 10 Phoenix, the confrontation began at the Havasu National Wildlife Refuge. Coyl says he was ordered to leave, drove approximately 20 minutes to the Thaylpo gas station on the Fort Mojave Indian Reservation, and was confronted there again by the officer. Coyl suffered first- and second-degree burns and says he has severe nerve damage, flashbacks and nightmares. He was taken to the hospital but says he was never arrested. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service says the Taser deployment is under review. Its official policy warns officers against deploying electronic control devices near flammable or explosive materials unless they can clearly articulate a compelling reason. What was Coyl’s alleged offense? What immediate threat justified the deployment? Why was the Taser fired beside a gasoline pump? And when will Fish and Wildlife release the bodycam, incident report and Taser data? 📄 Story tips, resources & support 👉 https://www.thinblueliesmedia.com Submit police accountability tips, bodycam footage, public records, court documents, and local story leads.
