On October 13, 2022, a man called deputies to say the girlfriend who had moved into his house was throwing things and smashing phones. He told them she had been drinking and that a loaded handgun was hidden in the bedroom. When a deputy walked up to the house, he smelled smoke. She wouldn't come out, and when she finally did, she refused to say what was burning: "I'm not answering a single question without a lawyer." While deputies were getting her out of the house, the basement filled with smoke and then flames, with ammunition and firearms stored down there. She was booked into jail and later charged with aggravated arson, assault and resisting arrest. Later that night, a deputy went back inside the smoke-damaged house to get the homeowner's wallet, and found his jeans in the toilet.
