During Florida's mini lobster season, wildlife officers approach a dive boat with a diver down flag displayed. As they approach, they see two scuba divers with lobster bags getting on the boat. An officer boards the vessel and begins measuring the lobster. The officer measuring the boat's catch is finding that a lot of the lobsters they have on board are too small to keep. After all lobsters were counted and measured, they found a total of 18 lobsters on board, and 14 of those were too short. State law requires that all Lobsters must be measured while in the water with a measuring device. Fines for the 17 charges could cost the angler between $4,000 and 6,000 and could include jail time.
